Financial Appeal - Please, This Is Important!
We are now in Hanuka and the secular year
of 2009 is drawing to a close. It has been a rough year for many of us,
especially in the financial realm. I have noticed that one of the areas of great
spending cuts is in the area of Torah study.
This last year, the
KosherTorah.com reading audience has expanded greatly. We can average over 5,000
hits every day. I am glad to be of service to the general public by providing
what I do on KosherTorah.com.
However,
there comes a time when the “free lunch” must be paid for.
While I am honored that so many people take advantage of KosherTorah.com, I am
at the same time dismayed that support is limited to readership.
KosherTorah.com, like every other Yeshiva is a business, it needs your support
financially if it is to continue to provide free Torah services to the public.
KosherTorah.com has been around for a good
number of years. I thank G-d that I been able to provide education, information,
comfort and support for peoples whose numbers I cannot measure. Like I said, I
am glad to be of service. Yet, as times have changed so has people's support
levels, and now KosherTorah.com is at that point where it is becoming difficult
to continue.
I am doing my share to provide for my
readership and I have always said that my readership must in turn do its share.
Unfortunately, at present, this is not the case. Sorry folks, but this is not
right!
I know that you too are having a hard time
as am I, but this does not negate either of our obligations and
responsibilities. If my readership does not step up to the plate and express
their continuing support for KosherTorah.com in a tangible way that will enable
me to continue, then I may have to take drastic steps to make KosherTorah more
businesslike.
I am
looking into the possibility of charging KosherTorah.com readers for access to
my essays, audio and video lessons. I know that
this would severely curtail our readership. People who pay for a free lunch will
often look elsewhere before they decide to pay for anything. But, in the long
run if I cannot afford to
continue providing free lunches to everyone then I will be forced to continue to
provide it only for those who in turn provide.
Now, if you really don't care and you are
willing to move on, I understand this and respect it. I can tell you that there
are many other Torah websites out there, much bigger than KosherTorah who will
welcome you to their readership. If you are happy with the others, than I
suggest that you continue to use them. But if you find any value in
KosherTorah.com then please, I must begin to receive some tangible support from
you.
I am not asking
for contributions in the thousands of dollars. I do not have a building to
maintain or a mortgage to pay. I simply have bills to pay and a family to
support, just like most of us. I do need your support,
however great or small, but I do need it and I need you to be consistent.
I need to end the secular year without
debt. I was relying on our regular levels of support in order to materialize
some big moves. These unfortunately are on hold for the moment until such time
when they can be afforded. Our next book, PROTECTION FROM EVIL is almost ready
for publication. It would be a shame if that was also held up due to lack of
support.
So, as always I
turn to you, my KosherTorah.com readers. It is secular year's end.
You can write donation checks that are tax deductible.
I know this means something to many of you.
I confess that for years, no decades, I
have done my best to be a good Rabbi. Well, now circumstances are forcing me to
also be a good businessman. Unfortunately, it is becoming all too apparent that
KosherTorah.com cannot continue to operate as both a free Torah service and a
business sufficient to pay for the needs of its providers.
We need your support now. In order to
express my appreciation to you this is what I plan...
All I need are 20 individuals who can pledge $250.00
per month to KosherTorah.com. For this pledge, one will have full access
to all private classes requiring registration. At present there are three
per week. This number can grow or change. Therefore this sum is a money saver
for those who want to study Torah and support KosherTorah.com at the same time. All I need are 10 individuals who can pledge $500.00 per month to KosherTorah.com. For this pledge, not only will have one full access to all private classes, one will also have access to a once per week private class with HaRav Bar Tzadok (me). For those so serious about their learning, this is the best that can be.
There is a very
limited amount of time for this and I can only provide this service for a finite
amount of people, but for those who want to learn those
areas of Torah that no one else anywhere on the web or even in other yeshivot is
teaching, this is your opportunity.
10 – 20 faithful consistent supporters;
this is all I need. Are you one of them? If yes, then I need to hear from you.
Please contact me directly by phone or by email. If we can meet this quota and
secure the necessary stable funding, then I will not have to take the steps to
make KosherTorah.com services available only for paying students.
The year is drawing
to a close and I will soon be forced to make decisions, be they comfortable or
not. I am relying upon you my KosherTorah.com readership to come up to the plate
and hit a home-run for me. If not, I understand! Then you will please also
understand why I will have to take the steps I must.
I am
reaching out to you now even as you have many times reached out to me. I have
been here for you when you needed me. Will you be here for me when I need you?
I pray that G-d will speak to your heart and
enable you to see this matter clearly. I send to you all my blessings. May the Light of Torah and the Rededicated Temple shine in our hearts and minds to enlighten us and direct us always to do the right thing. |
